Precious Presence

Poem · Published in Dreamworld Girl Zine Issue 5 · 2026

I am living in castles of cobblestone

Adorning shoes that are too big for my feet

Brushing my hair one hundred times before bed

Listening to the lullabies of sirens and sprites

Crumbs of vanilla cake sleep in the corners of my lips

Oyster pearls emerge from my eyes and tink into crystal dishes

I string them together to make jewelry

Offerings for the necks of contemplating statues

My moat is flooded with the juice of milky sweet honeydew

It flows in infinite circles

The mud beneath the surface hoards gems

In the starlight, they sparkle like rainbow nectar

I keep one in my palm

Peek at the jewel as if I’ve caught a lightening bug

Watch as sapphire soaks into my skin

Floods the crevices of my life path map

I am a princess of possibility
